Garland Royce Fambro

Garland Royce Fambro of Monahans, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2008 at his home.  Garland was born July 1, 1941 in Rotan, Texas.  He was a retired truck driver.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008, 10:00 AM at the Pavilion at the Monahans Cemetery with Rev. Robert Stone officiating.  Pall bearers will be John Fambro, Darryl Miese, Carl Thurman, Clinton McMullen, Eddie Barefoot, Chris Fambro, Steven Cole, Dexter Ward.  Services are under the direction of Martinez-Smith & Miller Funeral Chapel & Crematory of Monahans.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Helen Fambro of Monahans, they were happily married for forty-one years; three sons, John Paul Fambro and wife Tina of Monahans, Douglas Edward Fambro of San Angelo, and Robert Conway Rhoads & wife Janet of Midland;  three daughters, Paula Deniece Thomas & husband Johnny of Corsicana,                                                   
Shawn LaNelle Cole & husband Perry of Monahans, and  Jennifer LaNelle Thurman & husband Carl of Monahans; one brother, Densell Fambro & wife Jeannie of Snyder, one sister Rita Ann Bronniman & husband Harvey of Adrian; nineteen grand children and two great-grand children.

Barbara Newton Monroe

Barbara Newton Monroe, 73, of Monahans passed away on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Ward Memorial Hospital.  She was born on March 4, 1935 in Mountain Park, OK to Brownlow and Florence (Owens) Newton.  Barbara spent a good part of her life as the owner of Scriptures and Treasures gift shop in Monahans as well as The Sunshine Shop in Pecos.  She was also a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church in Monahans.

Services are set for 11 am on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Southside Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery with Reverends Lessie Woodard and Bill Cook officiating.  Services are under the direction of Harkey Family Funeral Services.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Monroe of Monahans; 2 sons, Vernon Monroe of Baton Rouge, LA and John Monroe of Gonzales, LA; a daughter, Ginger Parry of Monahans; 2 brothers, Kenneth Newton of Ruidoso, NM and Benny Newton of Logan, NM; a sister, Reba Lloyd of Midland.  She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 ½ great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a grandchild.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Southside Baptist Church building fund.

Floyd E. Buster Ward

Floyd E. Buster Ward, 69, of Midland, died on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Serenity Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bob Porterfield, officiating. 

Mr. Ward was born on January 23, 1939, in Lono, Arkansas to Earnest and Connie Ward and married Virginia Reese on March 7, 1956 in Monahans.  He was a Baptist.  Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ward of Midland; two sons, Curtis Ward of Midland, and Michael Ward and wife Janet, of San Angelo, Texas; two daughters, Pam Campbell and husband Charlie, of Andrews, and Paula Ottaberry and husband Donnie, of Midland, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, five sisters and one brother. 

Buster was preceded in death by his mother and father, two sisters, and one brother.  The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702.
