Joyce Redmon

Joyce Redmon, 64, of Monahans passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at her residence.  She was born on June 22, 1944 in Alvin, Texas to Lester and Doris (Cotton) Moore.  Joyce was a homemaker.  Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Bethel Baptist Church in Monahans.  Interment will follow at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Gordon Cox officiating.  The family will meet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 26th at the funeral home.  Services are entrusted to Harkey Family Funeral Services.  Survivors include her husband, Billy Redmon of Monahans; 2 sons, Billy R. Redmon and wife Malinda of Monahans and Johnny Redmon and wife Judy of Longmont, CO; a daughter, Sherry Hunter and husband Paul of Monahans; her mother, Doris Moore of Soper, OK; 2 brothers, Eddie Moore of Soper, OK and Jerry Moore of Tulsa, OK; a sister, Glenda Carter of Soper, OK.  Joyce is also survived by 5 grandchildren.

Hubert William Harris

Hubert William Harris, 77, of Monahans, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at his residence.  He was born October 2, 1931.  He was the owner of H & H Construction.  He married Ruthie Kirkpatrick on March 3, 1962, in Midland, Texas, and she preceded him in death in 1997.  He served with the U. S. Army, during the Korean Conflict.  He was an active member of the Ward County Senior Citizens Center, where he spent many hours visiting with his "buddies".   

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Harkey Family Funeral Services.  Burial will follow in Monahans Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Harkey Family Funeral Services.

He is survived by 1 son, Ernest Harris of Katy, Texas, and 3 daughters, Pamela Keltz and husband Jim, of Monahans, Kathy Harris of Odessa, and Barbara Hudgens of Magnolia, Arkansas.  Also by 2 sisters, Dorothy Coe and Mary Lou Collinge, both of San Antonio, and 5 grandchildren.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Orville Harris.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Ward County Senior Citizens Center.

Ruben Martinez Sr.

Ruben Martinez Sr., 88, of Monahans died Sunday November 2, 2008 at his home.  He was born February 15, 1921 to Refugio and Benita (Renteria) Martin.  He served with the U. S. Army during WWII.  He was married to Jesusita Gomez in 1983, and was a carpenter.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at St. John Catholic Church with Father John Lucido officiating.  Burial will follow in Toyah Cemetery, Toyah, Texas.  A Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at St. John Catholic Church.  Services are under the direction of Harkey Family Funeral Services.

Survivors include his wife, Jesusita Martinez of Monahans, and children Raymond Martinez, Joe Holgin, Ruben Martinez, Jr., Ralph Martinez, Maria Sanchez, Arthur Martinez, Gracien Arreguy, and Dora Hires, all of Monahans, Salvador Martinez, Virginia Natividad, Irma Valencia, Gloria Jaramillo, Rachel Gutierrez, Delia Abila and Danny Arreguy, all of Odessa, David Martinez of Las Vegas, NV, Benny Arreguy of Pecos, and Lorena Valenzuela of Andrews. Also by a brother, Moises Martinez of Odessa, and 3 sisters, Trine Velasquez of San Angelo, Anita Pena of El Paso, and Delia McKee of Arkansas, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Rosendo Holgin and a brother, Frank Martinez.

Glenn D. Brice

Glenn D. Brice, 98, of Monahans, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Legends Transitional Healthcare, Midland, TX.  He was born October 12, 1910 in Ellis Co., TX to parents William Alexander and Ida Brice.  He was a retired Field Superintendent for Exxon Mobil.  He was an avid Ham Radio Operator for many years with call letters WSGDP.  He married Katherine Violet Anderson on June 10, 1939.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at First United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at the Monahans Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Robert Stone officiating.  Services under the direction of Martinez-Smith & Miller Funeral Chapel & Crematory of Monahans.

Pallbearers are Robert Gatlin, Randy Brice, Beck Betenbough, Chancy Edwards, Jeremy Edwards, Brandon Nall.

He is survived by one son, Ron Brice & Linda of Midland; three daughters, Sandra Betenbough & Terry of Weatherford, Pat Grice of Monahans, and Debbie Cosgrove & Ed of Lubbock; one brother, Dave Brice & Jean of Yukon, OK; 9 Grandchildren; 19 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Brice; brother, William Brice; 2 sisters, Doris Coffin and Bessie Setser; son in law, Howard Grice; 1 granddaughter, Kimberly Ables; 1 grandson, Tommy Gatlin; and 1 great-granddaughter, Hailley James.

He was loved by his family and will be remembered for his strong will and inspiration to all of us.
