Dr. Davison, CMO

The Ward Memorial Board of Managers met on March 8, 2011.  Previous minutes, accounts payable, financials and personnel changes were approved.  Approximately $117,000 of subsidy has been transferred during March to help pay the bills.  Dora Gonzales, Environmental Services PRN Housekeeper, was the new hire.

A Chief Medical Officer Agreement between Ward Memorial and Dr. Davison was unanimously approved.  Establishing a CMO is the first step toward the Hospital being able to employ physicians.  The CMO notifies the Texas Medical Board that the Hospital is employing physicians and that he has been appointed CMO.  The CMO will also serve as the contact for the TMB on all matters relating to complaints regarding interference or attempted interference with a physician's independent medical judgement.  He shall also report immediately to the TMB any action or event the Physician reasonably and in good faith believes constitutes a compromise of the independent medical judgment of a physician caring for a patient.  As CMO, Dr. Davison will act as liaison between the Medical Staff and Hospital Administration with regard to any complaint by physicians regarding perceived interference or attempted interference in the independent medical judgment of the physician.

In lieu of compensation, the Hospital agrees to assist in the recruitment of one internal medicine physician for Family Medical Center.  This includes paying a recruitment fee of up to $25,000, Staff and Board being available for recruitment activities, and assisting in arranging tours of facilities, the town, housing and schools.

Paddy White noted the increase in Lab, Radiology, Respiratory, PT, ER, and the Sandhills Family Clinic.  Paddy has also arranged a visit for a Surgeon interested in the Hospital's Specialty Clinic.  Dr Havalda will visit Mudville on March 31, 2012.

The Board considered and approved the 4th Quarter Performance Improvement Plan.  The 2011 Patient Survey Satisfaction Results were presented.  Survey says?  98% of all patients would recommend this hospital to their friends and family.
