Lions Club

The Annual Rose Day presented by the Lions Club was on Thursday, March 29, 2012.  Lions Club members sold a dozen roses including a vase for $20.  The funds raised from the fundraiser go towards their activity fund which provides scholarships and eye glasses for our community.  Altogether the members sold about 640 dozen roses.  They gave a rose to each person that receives Meals on Wheels, and patients at the hospital.  They usually give a rose to everyone at the nursing home, but someone bought all the ladies at the nursing home a dozen roses.  So the Lions Club gave the men three roses each.  In all the club gave away about 30 dozen roses.  Chairman, Frank Heslin said, "We really appreciate the way the community supports Rose Day.  It went really smooth this year."

The Lions Club Activity Fund provides money for their charitable service projects.  The majority of the funds go towards eyeglasses, scholarships and the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville.  They also support other charities in the district, state and nationally.  The LCIF (Lions Club International Foundation) provides relief nationally for natural disasters.  If anyone had problems with Rose Day please contact Frank Heslin.
