Mildred "Poochie" White

Mildred "Poochie" White, 78, of Odessa, Texas joined the Lord on June 19, 2012. She is most remembered by many as a devoted waitress and employed by McLain's Restaurant in Monahans, Texas.

She was born January 22, 1934 in McCamey, Texas to Otto and Ethel Carroll.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel in Odessa with Emmett Barnard officiating.

Burial will follow after the service at Monahans Memorial Cemetery in Monahans. Visitation is scheduled for 7-8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Bedrick and husband Steve of Odessa; son, Jimmy White and wife Mary of Bastrop; a sister, Blanche Olesen; three beautiful granddaughters, Shannon Bedrick, Alicia (Matt) Lippman of Odessa, and Mandy Rosson of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and three great-grandsons, Zach, Adam, and Jeremy Rosson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Ethel Carroll; her son, John Garner "Butch" White, Jr.; 2 brothers, Jim Carroll and Roy Carroll; 2 sisters, Bernice McShane and Pauline Moore.

She was enjoyable and loved by many and never gave up on life. She is blessed by two amazing friends, Julia (Athey) Davis and Era Vaughn Teel from childhood friends to a unique and everlasting friendship.

Deepest appreciation to Buena Vida Nursing Facility for their dedicated years of care and love for Mom and the staff of Hospice House for keeping her comfortable and relaxed until she was lifted away to heaven.

Mary Hou Yee

Mary Hou Yee, age 55, of Midland, Texas passed away quickly while at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 to be with her Lord.

She is survived by her husband and two sons: Lonnie Yee, Jonathan Yee and Joshua Yee, of Midland; her mother: Chun Ying Hsiung of New York; her siblings: James Hou of Canada, Lee Hou of New York, John Hou of Dallas, Lily Hou of Pennsylvania, Sheng Hou of New York and Rita Mohsin of Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to their favorite charities in her memory or to: Faith Lutheran Church, Faith House Ministries, 4600 Bellaire Blvd, Bellaire TX 77401 in memory of Mary Yee.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church located at 800 W. Texas Ave. in Midland, TX.

Douglas Wayne Chip Spurrier, II

Douglas Wayne Chip Spurrier, II, 34, of Clyde, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, in Baird.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 22, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Clyde with Rev. Larry Hooper officiating.  Military graveside services will be at 1:00 PM at the Texas Veteran's Cemetery in Abilene, Texas, under the direction of Bailey-Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.  Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the funeral home.

Chip was born May 27, 1978, in Odessa, Texas, to Douglas Wayne Spurrier, I and Deborah Ruth Roland Spurrier.  He was a graduate of Crane High School.  Chip was a highly decorated Marine serving in the U.S. Marine Corp from 2000 to 2005 as a rifleman.  He served two tours in Iraq and was a leader in infantry.  Since his honorable discharge from the Marines, Chip has been co-owner of Bulldog Equipment Services in Clyde.  He was a member of the American Legion in Baird.

Chip is survived by his father, Douglas Wayne Spurrier, I and his step-mother, Sally of Camp Wood; his sisters Amber, Spurrier Mayhugh of Clyde, Candy Barrett of Arlington, Lu Fayne Helmers and Cheryl Spurrier Morriss both of Monahans and Kasi Hagen of Clyde; his brother, Scott Smith of Abilene; his step-dad, Ronnie Smith of Clyde; his grandpa, Angelo McAnally of Monahans; Kylar and Colt Mayhugh.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Debbie Ruth Smith; his paternal grandparents, W.G. Spurrier and Wilma Jo Spurrier; his maternal grandmother Patsy Smith.

Billee Lou Harris

Billee Lou Harris, age 82, of Monahans passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Crane Nursing Home.

She was born July 5, 1929 in Andrews, Texas to Ell and Annie Lou (Craddock) Long.

She owned Billee Lou's Flowers for 29 years. She was president of Monahans Main Street from 1996-1999 and was instrumental in building Oasis Park with Monahans Main Street. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and won the Merit award in 1992 and the Outstanding Citizen award in 1997. Ms. Harris was a member of the Friends of The Library, Bridge Club, Million Barrell Museum, Friends of the Sandhills and the Permian Basin Floral Association. She also won the Texas American Lung Association award in 1989. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1942.

Survivors include her sister, Eva Smith of Monahans; 5 grandchildren; Jay Treadaway and wife Sabrina of Monahans, Clay Treadaway and wife Barbara of Monahans; Tatum Treadaway and wife Kimberly of Odessa, Cindy Swain and husband Will of Mansfield, and Cary Palafox and husband Tyler of Mansfield; 11 great-grandchildren, KK, Wes, Katelyn, Tatum Deane, Kolby Lou, Dalton, Andy Lyn, Charlie, Chance, Sidney, and Seth; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ell and Annie Lou Long; her husband, W.J. Bill Harris; her son, Sanders Estes; and her daughter, Pam Treadaway.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
